Weekend Update: A Site Overhaul, New Features & The 2nd Edition

There are very few benefits I can think of, from being awake at 4.30am on a Sunday morning – but of those few, being able to write this post with no distractions on Twitter or elsewhere is one of them – yep, pregnancy is most definitely kicking my ass at the moment but with only 11 days to go until my expected due date, it should hopefully not be for too much longer!

Weekend Update: Twitter Q&A Day Coming Up This Week!

This weekend’s update on the Location Independent project kicks off with a very cool idea (kudos to Sharon Hurley Hall) for using Twitter to help spread the word about the concept of being location independent and invite people to find out more about it.

If you’re already on Twitter, you probably already know that we have our own hashtag (#LIP) – what this means is that if you search for the term #LIP on Twitter, you’ll see any & all tweets relating to the location independent lifestyle (usually) from across the Twittersphere.

The usefulness of this obviously relies on the sensible & relevant use of the #LIP hashtag but by & large it’s great to see it being used to highlight useful resources for the whole community on Twitter.

Why You’ve Been Hearing More About Location Independent Recently…

Today’s project update is a ‘behind the scenes’ kind of look at the way I’ve been tweaking and implementing the ‘Street Teams‘ idea that Skellie wrote about a while back.

Since my “call to action” a few weeks ago, you may been hearing more and more about the concept of Location Independent around the web. In fact on several occasions recently I’ve been in touch with someone and they’ve replied saying “Oh yeah, I checked out your website and realised you’re the guys behind Location Independent…cool!”.

If you’re wondering why that is, much of it is down to a few extremely supportive, hard-working, passionate supporters of the location independent project who I’m really pleased to have as official “Team Leaders” for our Community Outreach Teams (COT) – my version of a street team.

These are the guys who’ve been spearheading the efforts to spread the word about the concepts of location independent living across the web (and beyond) and who I’d like to introduce to you today…
