Are you a fitness fanatic wondering how you’ll get your fix of happy hormones whilst you’re on the road? Or maybe you’re planning to get your body swimsuit-ready in preparation for your location independent life…
Me? I’m just trying to get myself back to some sort of regular fitness routine after a few months of sporadic attempts here and there and one too many fish & chip suppers - and I should really know better as a qualified personal trainer & health coach.
What if you could do an exercise routine that helped you:
- Lose weight
- Improve muscle tone & firm up
- Improve your strength
…and requires no equipment whatsoever (except perhaps a gym mat or beach towel). Like the sound of that?

Following on from Lea’s first post about Keeping Your Stuff Safe, there are a few things you can do to keep yourself safe whilst out and about.
It’s easy to become another crime statistic to be filed in a report by a jaded police officer who’s seen it all before; uninformed tourist wanders into a dangerous part of town by mistake, gets mugged and has their backpack, wallet and passport stolen.
However, I do believe that nowadays most LIPs, travellers or working nomads have heard of enough horror stories in the media to ensure that they take at least some precautions when they visit an unfamiliar place.
That said, I find that there are three elements that can lead you into trouble. The first two are distraction and surprise. The third is a lack of local knowledge.
Whilst you can tick all the necessary travel safety boxes and still be unlucky enough to get mugged or assaulted there are certain things you can do to reduce that risk significantly… Read the rest of this entry

It could be said that being location independent is one of the lifestyles that so many are striving to design for themselves – particularly since Tim Ferriss popularised the concept of “lifestyle design” and made it all seem so possible for everyone.
And yet whilst it has never seemed easier (is it easy?!?) to create this kind of lifestyle, there are certain realities that few people will point out to you…preferring instead to highlight the glamour, excitement and fabulous-ness of it all and how anyone can do it.
I won’t disagree – travelling to wherever takes our fancy and running a business from wherever we are, feels like a privilege every day we do it; the kind of lifestyle I don’t think I’d ever even dreamed of because I just wasn’t sure it was possible but here I am living it.
Nonetheless, there are realities that make this kind of lifestyle seem not only less attractive but downright unappealing to people who haven’t thought it through with any seriousness.
So just what realities am I talking about? Read the rest of this entry

Experiencing thrilling new things together, sharing moonlight walks along the coast and candlelight dinners on the beach…travelling with your other half is one way to spice up a relationship or solidify an already strong one.
On the other hand the stress of moving around constantly, agreeing where to go next, living in less than ideal apartments and being in each others pockets the whole time could see you going your own separate ways.
As teenage sweethearts (we’ve been together for 13 years and married for 4) , we’ve been travelling together several times before. This time however is the longest….we’ve spent 12 months travelling, living and working together in each others pockets - and the “D” word has only been mentioned a couple of times (both times in Buenos Aires - one reason we left early!).
Anyone who’s ever had a relationship will know that it can be hard work…as location independent professionals and working nomads, you’ll be exposing your relationship to even more unique challenges…
