At LocationIndependent.com one of the questions we frequently get asked is “How much does it cost to live there?”. We want to provide a forum (this wiki) where our community can share the costs of living in specific destinations with each other - and keep them updated on a regular basis as a valuable resource for us all.
A wiki is essentially a place to store information that can be edited by anyone (as long as you're registered here). Keeping the costs of so many places updated on a regular basis is too much work for one person so we hope that as a community, we can all do our bit and keep the information here up to date and relevant.
This wiki is for location independent people - and anyone who would like to know the approximate costs of living in a particular destination. The focus is not so much on tourist-type products/services but more on the kinds of things you'd need and want to buy if you stayed or lived in a place for longer than a couple of weeks.
To get started, check out the existing destinations in the Index or add your own page for a specific destination that doesn't yet exist.
Pages are created as in every other wiki. Simply create a link from an existing page to a non-existing page, follow this link, and click on Create this page (on the top left in the default template). This is the most common and recommended way. It ensures all your pages are linked together correctly and you don't create orphans anywhere.
There are some alternative ways as well:
NOTE: Make sure you properly link your newly created page from other pages, when using one of the alternative methods. Otherwise no one may find your page. (Though these pages may still be found by the index feature or through the search engine.)
